Project Overview

This project involved a comprehensive redesign and implementation of a stunning new landscape for the front and back yards of the client’s property. The outcome reflects an intricate balance of aesthetics, functionality, and environmental harmony, creating an outdoor space that is both inviting and awe-inspiring.

Front Yard Transformation

The centerpiece of the front yard is a trio of enormous redwood burls, each carefully placed to enhance the landscape’s natural beauty and serve as focal points. The central burl, a majestic piece spanning 15 to 20 feet wide, is a statement of organic grandeur. On the left side, we crafted an exquisite water feature that begins its journey at one of the burls, winding across the yard for approximately 60 feet. Elevated about six feet at its highest point, the water cascades gracefully down through the property, flowing beneath a custom-built path and culminating in a serene pond near the main entrance.

The design of this water feature was painstakingly detailed, with each rock meticulously handpicked from a regional quarry and placed with precision. This rock-by-rock approach ensures a cohesive and natural aesthetic while highlighting the level of care and craftsmanship invested in this project.

The semi-circular concrete driveway elegantly wraps around the central redwood burl, providing both functionality and visual cohesion. Paver paths weave throughout the property, connecting the driveway on the right side of the house to the left and continuing seamlessly to the backyard.

Backyard Masterpiece

The highlight of the backyard is a custom wrap-around deck constructed with Azek TimberTech composite deck boards. Spanning approximately 60 feet across, this deck extends along the entire backside of the house, including a new addition, creating a vast space for relaxation and entertainment. What makes this deck truly unique is the intricate design embedded into its surface. Using carefully arranged boards, we created a stunning mountainous scene with a radiant sun and its rays above a curved ocean-like base. This one-of-a-kind feature adds a personal and artistic touch that sets this project apart.

The deck’s construction involved extensive preparation to ensure its durability and longevity. We reinforced the substructure with additional blocking to support every board transition, ensuring there are no unsupported areas. Deck tape was applied to every inch of the pressure-treated lumber, forming a reliable moisture barrier and preserving the wood for years to come.

Additional Features

• Plantings and Irrigation: Over 100 different plants, trees, and shrubs were thoughtfully chosen and planted to complement the landscape’s design. These are supported by a state-of-the-art irrigation system, which includes a full overhaul of the property’s existing system to ensure efficient watering.
• Mulching: Fresh mulch was added between all plantings to retain soil moisture and enhance visual appeal.
• Stonework: Approximately 60 tons of boulders and stones were carefully placed throughout the water feature and surrounding areas, adding texture and depth to the landscape.
